Light pollution

Since some years the discussion about light pollution is growing and countries are even changing their laws to prevent this kind of pollution. But what really is »light pollution«? Again, I decided to write a seminar paper about this topic.

I focused my analysis of light pollution on the city of Cologne, Germany. To visualize imagery I made a website with more information. I must say that photos are not the best indicator for light pollution but there are some good charts about how much light is burning every night on earth and how it developed in the past years.

Roman Polanski's »Chinatown«

During my last semester at the KHM I wrote this seminar paper on the narrator's point of view in the 1974 movie Chinatown.

I know this movie for a long time now, but right now I wanted to focus on it more deeply and decided to write this paper for my film studies.

Like in classical Hollywood film noir movies (e.g. John Huston's »The Maltese Falcon«) Polanksi decided to tell Jake Gittes story in »Chinatown« very strictly from his point of view. I found this very interesting and analyzed the movie with a special attention on how the audience and Jake Gittes see and hear and how information is spread from different characters.
